Thanks, Mike.
Yes, power back on but no power for days meant I couldn't get my car out of the garage days until my son drove back over to lift the garage door. I went to stay with him initially but he lost power also, so he brought me home. Still it was very stressful and as I said: I can't imagine after that experience having nothing left as so many now are facing that fact. This is certainly a year for terrible weather..

Thanks, Anita.

Feeling a bit better physically but being surrounded by a mess and having to wait weeks to get someone to do clean up is wearying.
However, the fish came through everything amazingly.
I have lived through a few bad storms but this was the worst. I can't imagine having nothing left like some people. Again, Anita thanks for your thoughts.

Well Dennis,
Christmas to me will be finding someone to fix my roof, clean my gutters and remove all the dead trees. Do you think Santa can spare the elves - LOL??  It will happen and I know I will have a very merry Christmas celebration!

Orlando: After almost 4 days, we got power back.
Everything in my freezer, refrigerator had to be thrown out, back yard a disaster most of my trees are gone. Not sure about my roof. Cold showers and sandwiches for the last 4 days. What I wouldn't have given for a hot cup of tea. We had no land line phone service and trying to save as much time as possible on cell phone to keep up with news on family and friends.
I have a 16ft Koi pond with 20 year old Koi they can only live 24 hours without aeration so I was up every 4 hours trying to keep them alive. So exhausted, but grateful that at least I have no flooding or lost my home as so many poor souls have. Please keep Florida and Texas in your thoughts and prayers.
AND to think in my younger days, I thought Rossendale boring!! LOL..
Maureen.

Take care ALL. X

Hi Anne,

So good to hear you are safe.

The conditions in east Texas look awful. Sad to hear that approx. 80% of homes have no flood insurance. That means many have no insurance to rebuild or fix and still have a mortgage to pay!!!

Hi Glo,
Lovely to see you visiting. Hope it becomes a regular event.
I have been gone for a couple of weeks on a Baltic cruise.
Dennis you are correct, it seems we don't have too many Lanky's on board anymore. With my immediate family all gone this board and visiting the Rossendale Free Press once a week are my only contacts with home. Have been reading some historical novels about the war of the roses and enjoying them very much although my family is mostly of Irish descent. Did do the ancestry.com DNA test and my children found some real surprises. Has anyone else tested their DNA?

Hi Dennis,

I am awake but I have not much to comment other than to say: Your July 4th greeting brought back good old memories:.
I always loved actor Robert Morley's comment regarding July 4th, courtesy British Airlines: Do come home all is forgiven!! Loved it, and laughed  long an hard,,

Thanks Dennis that was great.  Still working hard.  The beer did not taste the same as I remember it.  I guess it is all the medications.

Happy Birthday Glo.
